Preparing your tool…

How to use it

  1. 01Choose a DOCX up to 20 MB. Save older DOC files as DOCX first.
  2. 02Wait for local preparation and review the supported structure and limitations.
  3. 03Convert to PDF, then check page breaks, spacing and font substitutions before downloading.

Useful details

DOCX is parsed directly as Office Open XML. Page breaks within runs, page-break-before paragraph styles, saved last-rendered-page-break markers and next/odd/even section boundaries are respected. Section-specific sizes and margins, intentional empty paragraphs, exact/minimum line spacing, paragraph spacing and indentation are retained. Basic keep-next/keep-lines, alignments, bold/italic/underlined runs, colors, lists, tables, PNG/JPEG images, saved header/footer text and page/margin-anchored image offsets are supported. Content is not packed into earlier pages across saved boundaries. Liberation Sans fonts are embedded; this is not the Microsoft Word layout engine, so pagination without saved boundaries, custom fonts, multi-column sections, complex header/footer drawings, merged/nested tables, tracked edits and unusual floating objects can differ. Dynamic fields use saved text rather than recalculation. No OCR or page screenshot conversion is involved. Limits: 20 MB input, 32 MB expanded archive, 200,000 body text characters, 100 output pages and 40 MB PDF output. No file upload or conversion service is used.

Questions about this tool

Does Word to PDF ever use OCR?

No. DOCX already contains structured text and images. It is parsed and rendered natively, without recognition.

Will page 2 move into blank space on page 1?

Explicit page/section breaks and saved page-boundary markers prevent that. Intentional empty paragraphs and spacing are preserved. Documents lacking saved pagination can still wrap differently because browser-side font metrics differ from Microsoft Word.

Are headers and footers supported?

Simple saved paragraph text, alignment and first-page variants are supported. Dynamic fields are not recalculated, and complex drawings/tables in headers or footers need review.

Are older DOC files supported?

No. Save them as DOCX in a compatible editor first.
