Useful details

PDF OCR is separate from native PDF to Word. Pages are rendered sequentially with bounded image sizes. Preparation can upscale small text, correct clearly sideways text, normalize low contrast and let the engine correct small skew. Clear pages avoid destructive thresholding. Recognized word and line boxes are grouped into paragraphs, heading size hierarchy, lists, readable aligned rows and column-first reading order. Only recognized content is included. Complex forms, irregular tables, handwriting, non-English scripts, ambiguous orientation and poor scans remain limited; check every important number. Each recognized page remains a corresponding DOCX section. Only engine and English language assets are downloaded; your files are never uploaded. Cancel terminates the worker, and temporary page canvases are released after each page.

Questions about this tool

When should I use PDF OCR?

Use it for image-only scans without selectable text. For a normal PDF with real text, use PDF to Word to preserve its native text and font information.

Can I download an editable Word document?

Yes. Reconstructed paragraphs, lists and simple aligned tables are packaged into a DOCX. Review recognition mistakes and complex layouts.

Which languages and limits are supported?

English printed text. Mobile supports 5 pages / 5 MB; desktop supports 10 pages / 10 MB. Split larger documents first.

Does the OCR engine load during normal conversion?

No. It initializes only after you explicitly select Extract text in an OCR tool. Native PDF to Word and Word to PDF never invoke OCR.
