Image to Text OCROn-device processing

Preparing your tool…

How to use it

  1. 01Choose a clear, upright PNG or JPEG containing English text.
  2. 02Select Extract text; the local OCR engine loads on demand and shows real recognition progress.
  3. 03Check spelling, numbers and reading order, then copy or download TXT or Word output.

Useful details

OCR recognizes shapes rather than reading an original text layer. Photos, small fonts, tilted pages and handwriting can cause mistakes. English is the supported recognition language in this version. Mobile input limits are 5 MB and 12 million pixels; desktop limits are 10 MB and 20 million pixels. Prepared images are capped at 1.8 million OCR pixels on mobile or 3 million on desktop. Small text can be upscaled, clearly sideways text corrected and low contrast normalized. Already-clear pages avoid hard binarization. Word/line boxes reconstruct paragraph groups, column-first reading order and simple aligned tables; complex layouts still need review. The pinned Tesseract engine and English language asset load only when you start recognition. Cancel or reset terminates the worker. No file is uploaded, no account is needed, and unreadable images do not produce an empty successful result.

Questions about this tool

Which OCR languages are supported?

English printed text is supported. Other scripts and mixed-language pages may be recognized incorrectly.

Are images sent to an OCR service?

No. Image preparation and recognition run locally. The browser downloads the OCR engine and English language data only when requested.

Can OCR read handwriting or guarantee correct numbers?

No. Clear printed text works best. Review names, numbers and punctuation carefully.
