Useful details

Fit preserves proportions inside a bounding box. Fill crops from the center to match both dimensions. Stretch changes proportions. Presets set a bounding box; Fit may produce smaller dimensions to preserve the original ratio. Output is limited to 16 million pixels and 8,000 pixels per side; input is limited to 20 MB and 40 million pixels. A compatibility fallback is limited to 4 million pixels. JPEG and BMP fill transparent areas with white. Metadata and animation are not retained. Enlarging cannot restore missing detail.

Questions about this tool

How does aspect-ratio locking work?

When locked, changing width recalculates height and changing height recalculates width. Unlock it to enter an independent bounding box, or use Fill and Stretch for exact output dimensions.

Why does Fit differ from a preset size?

A preset defines a bounding box. Fit keeps the original proportions inside it. Choose Fill for exact dimensions with center cropping, or Stretch if distortion is acceptable.

Can I keep transparency?

Yes, select PNG or a supported WebP/AVIF output. JPEG and BMP use a white background.
