Useful details

Supported inputs are JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, BMP and GIF when the browser can decode them. GIF uses its first frame; animated export is not supported. AVIF output is shown only after an actual encoder check. PNG/WebP/AVIF can retain transparency; JPEG and 24-bit BMP use white. BMP output is uncompressed and often much larger. The converter preserves dimensions but strips metadata. Files must be at most 20 MB; output is capped at 16 million pixels and 8,000 pixels per side. Use the Image Resizer first for a larger image. HEIC/HEIF and TIFF/TIF require additional decoders and are not accepted in this version.

Questions about this tool

Can I convert JPG to PNG or PNG to WebP?

Yes. Upload the supported source image and choose PNG or a browser-supported WebP output. JPEG and JPG refer to the same format.

Can I convert HEIC, TIFF or animated GIFs?

HEIC and TIFF are not supported. GIF input is decoded as a still first frame, and its animation is not preserved.

Why is AVIF not listed in my browser?

Decoding AVIF and encoding it are different capabilities. The tool offers AVIF output only if a small real encoding test returns an AVIF file.
